The Church of Our Lady of Soledad in San Jose, an outstanding building in Calicanto with influence of Baroque style, was built in the mid-nineteenth century. It has been incorporated in Historic Architectural Heritage of Costa Rica, December 8, 1999.

The Church of La Soledad is located in [Av.4/calle 9]. It is an eclectic structure with two symmetrical towers flanking a central atrium. This atrium dates to 1909. In the niches of both towers are put the statuettes. In the center part of facade there are two columns and the steps that lead to the interior.

This interior is distinguished by stain glasses brought from Switzerland. Its bells and organs date to the beginning of the century. It is fronted by a tiny square with Guanacaste tree and a bust of Carlos Guardia. The visits in this Church are so frequented, that there are concerts performed very often. The high ceiling is propitious to good acoustics.
