Museo de Formas, Espacios y Sonidos, literally translated as Museum of Forms, Spaces and Sounds, opened its doors to the audiences during the month of April 2002, as a separate program of the Museo de Arte Costarricense; located in the beautiful building that once hosted the Atlantic Rail Road Station, remodeled and fitted to suit a very noble purpose.
The MUFES was designed with a clear view of the conditions required for accessibility to the audiences of any given level of handicap/disability.
Conceived as interactive center for initiation to the arts, demonstrated by the possibility of direct interaction with objects and in the participation in pedagogic activities and programs; the museum directly adheres to the concept of Universal Accessibility –vastly original in Latin-America-.
It wishes to foment the integration of disabled people into the cultural and educational process in equal level of conditions, rights and opportunities to the physical space.
